As the name implies, the Centre Region is right in the centre of France, ideal for breaking your journey to the South of France or beyond, but once you taste the delights of this area you won’t want to venture any further. The Centre offers everything from Theme Parks – Futuroscope at Poitiers - to the peace and tranquillity of The Brenne National Park, where you can be as relaxed or energetic as you please; all tastes are catered for, including bird watching, fishing, boating or just walking and enjoying the sounds of nature.
Or perhaps on another day, enjoy a visit to a world famous château.
The Centre Region is composed of six départements: Eure-et-Loire is its most
northern département; Loiret is in the northeast corner of the region; Cher
is positioned in the region’s southeast corner; Indre is in the south; Indre-et-Loire
is in the southwest and Loir-et-Cher is in the northwest, between Loiret and
Indre-et-Loire. The region’s capital is Orléans, which is about 75 miles south
of Paris.
With the major cities of Tours, Poitiers, Orleans and Bourges, the region is
renowned for magnificent châteaux and cathedrals including Villandry, Chenonceaux
and Ambroise, rolling countryside and meandering rivers, and more important,
its production of world famous wines including Vouvray, Sancerre, Muscadet,
Anjou, Montlouis and Pouilly Fumé.

CHER
The capital of the department is Bourges; other large towns are Orléans and Verzion, all housing grand and beautiful cathedrals.
